About Nicole Cain
CD (DONA), CBC, CCBD

Welcome! My name’s Nicole Cain, I am a Certified Doula and Certified Breastfeeding Counselor serving families across the Ozarks. My passion is to educate and advocate for women so they feel empowered during their birth experience. Having four children of my own, I understand how sacred this season of life is and the need to be supported in what can be a vulnerable experience. I’ve been in healthcare for over 17 years and feel honored to be able to work alongside families as they welcome new life to their homes. I am located in Harrison, Arkansas and serve the surrounding areas ; North Central Arkansas, Northwest Arkansas and Southern Missouri.

WHY BEING A DOULA IS IMPORTANT

When I was pregnant with my firstborn I did not know what to expect when it came to labor and delivery. There was so much fear wrapped into the unknown. As most do, I had taken a birthing class but it had not prepared me for the emotional toll labor would bring. I was unaware I had a choices and autonomy and my voice went unheard. I was pressured into interventions that I would later come to regret and most importantly I felt like I was not in control, that I had no choices and I believed this was normal. It was not until I became pregnant with my second child that I began to understand how upsetting the experience had been and I began to research what I could do to make my next labor different. I hired a doula and I began to understand that labor and delivery did not have to be something I dreaded, that I didn’t have to be pressured into things I was not ok with and my experience could be one of empowerment. That birth changed everything for me, my perspective on birth and my desire to educate and advocate for women so they can avoid situations they are not ok with. I believe that birth is a beautiful and transformative experience where families should feel compassionate supportive care. I’ve done it alone and scared so I know firsthand how important education and support can be in shaping your birth experience and I want to make sure you don’t have to do it alone either. Birth can be inherently unpredictable, but my role is to hold space, protect boundaries and help families navigate decisions with confidence and dignity.

MY DOULA TRAINING

I received my doula training through the University of Arkansas Medical Science’s doula expansion program. Through this I have been dual certified as a Doula through the DONA International and the Ujima Maternity Network. As a Breastfeeding Counselor I am certified through the International Doula Institute. I am a member of DONA Internation and The Doula Alliance of Arkansas. Between my formal doula training and my background in healthcare as an EMT and Certified Medical Assistant I’ve cultivated a deep desire to walk alongside women and support them during this season of life. As a doula I am here to provide physical, emotional and informational support throughout your pregnancy and postpartum journey. Whether you’re a first-time parent or expanding your family I would be honored to walk alongside you with care, respect and empowerment. Let me help you feel confident and Nurtured every step of the way.
